SPEAKERS:
June 20th - Local author Suzanne Strempek Shea will talk about her latest book, Sundays in America: A Yearlong Road Trip in Search of Christian Faith. Sundays in America explores what makes one Christian religion different from the next. It¹s her first book to be chosen for mention by Book Sense, a national marketing campaign by and for the independent bookstores of America. Sundays in America was a Book Sense Notable Title for May and appeared in the 450,000 May Book Sense flyers which were distributed through independent bookstores around the country.
June 27th - Changing of the Guard - Please join us in celebrating and congratulating Carol Armour for her outstanding year of leadership and let us send a warm and supportive greeting to Jim Russell on his election as President of Springfield Rotary for the 2008-2009 year. A speical meal is also planned to help recognize this special occassion so please make an extra effort to attend to show our appreciation.

~ On May 4th, Sue Mastroianni of the Springfield Rotary while vacationing in Anguilla with her husband Chris paid a visit to the Anguillan Rotary to present the Springfield Rotary flag.

~ The following item appeared in the recent edition of "Business West", a bi-weekly Business Journal covering Western Mass cities and towns. It cites 2 Rotarians for prominent and continuous service at the Law Firm of Cooley & Shrair a Springfield based Business. The two Rotarians described are Attorneys (Judge) Cooley and Bob Dambrov. Great news for these stellar Rotarians!!
~ The back page of the June issue of Chamber Channels has a photo of Gary Fishlock and Maryanne Herron. STCU was the Coffee Bar Sponsor of the April breakfast.
FROM THE ARCHIVES: On Friday, January 21, 1950, Ed Hurley, an American League umpire, (from Holyoke, I believe)spoke about baseball in 1950, relating to his experiences with Joe Dimaggio and Ted, Williams, Joe Page and Preacher Roe. He related to the late joe McCarthy's Dream Game consisting of the Heaven All Stars from the American League versus the Devils All Stars which conssted of the American League umpires. He declined to reelate the result of the Dream Game.
