Weekly Meeting: Friday 12:15 @ The Basketball Hall of Fame
|
SPEAKERS:
SEPTEMBER 5th - Former Celtic player Frank Ramsey - Ramsey was often referred to as "The NBA's First Sixth Man" and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in May, 1982. Although Ramsey was one of the Celtics' best players, he felt more comfortable coming off the bench at the end of close games when coach, Red Auerbach, wanted him fresh and in the lineup. A 6'3" guard, Ramsey played his entire nine-year (1954-1964) NBA career with the Boston Celtics and played a major role in the early part of their dynasty, winning seven championship rings. Ramsey was also a head coach for the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA during the 1970-1971 season.
SEPTEMBER 12th - Brady Revels, Southern Region Vice President of The National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America). Brady will talk about be the expanding career field of Agricultural Education. The National FFA Organization changed its name from Future Farmers of America in 1988 to reflect the expanding career field of Agricultural Education. They were founded in 1928 and are a national youth organization of 500,823 student members in 7,358 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Revels is a student at the University of Florida and involved with Collegiate FFA, the Dairy Science Club and the Agricultural Communicator's and Leaders of Tomorrow.

Rotary Club's opportunity to help the Springfield Schools especially Springfield Academy Elemetary. So look around your house, your work or grab a few items next time you go shopping. Fellow Rotarian Doug MacMillian will be collecting these in the near future and an announcement will be made as to when and where these donations can go will be forthcoming. If we all kick in we can make this another success for the kids and for Rotary
