SPEAKERS:
October 3rd - Springfield Police Commissioner William J. Fitchet will address "Police Deployment and Technology." Fitchet is a US Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran and was appointed to the Springfield Police Department in April, 1973. He has worked his way up the ranks from Sergeant in 1979 to becoming the permanent Police Commissioner in April, 2008.
October 10th - Dr. Marylou Buyse, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans and Mr. William B. Vernon, State Director of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) will address Club. Their topic will be "Health Care Reform and the Commonwealth". Dr. Buyse is board certified in medical genetics, pediatrics and medical management. She currently has a faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and teaches at the Boston University School of Public Health. Mr.Vernon has been the State Director at NFIB since May, 1999 and served 9 years in the MA House of Representatives for the First Bristol District.

SPRINGFIELD ACADEMY ELEMETARY SCHOOL - Here is our chance for the Rotary Club to help the Springfield Schools especially Springfield Academy Elemetary. So look around your house, your work or grab a few items next time you go shopping.

Movie tickets, Small squishy balls, Small Lego sets, Youn children's books,
Stickers of all kinds, Action figures, Board games, Small battery operatied radios
Fellow Rotarian Doug MacMillian will be collecting these over the next two weeks (10/3 and 10/10). If we all kick in we can make this another success for the kids and for Rotary.
