SPEAKERS:
May 15th - Eric Bachrach, Founder and Executive Director of the Community Music School of Springfield: His topic will include the current programs at the school and recent improvements made to the building and performance space. Bachrach founded the Community Music School of Springfield in 1983. A violinist, Bachrach received his own music training at Mannes and Manhattan Schools of Music, the Berklee College of Music, and his Master of Music degree from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. He himself is a product of the community music school tradition having studied at Turtle Bay Music School in Manhattan. Bachrach taught in the New York City Public School System from 1971 1981 before moving to Western Massachusetts.

ADDITIONAL CLUB NEWS:
2nd Annual Springfield Rotary Club Clothing Drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters: The Springfield Rotary Club is holding their 2nd Annual Clothing Drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters on Friday May 29th at the Basketball Hall of Fame from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. A donation truck will be parked behind the Hall¹s South Side (near J. Quincy¹s Restaurant). Please bring any gently used clothing, shoes, dishes, books, toys, jewelry, or small pieces of furniture. Last year the Springfield Rotary collected over 2,000 lbs of items for Big Brothers Big Sisters. All donation help the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampden County provide one-to-one mentoring services to children in our community.

From the January 17, 1947 meeting, "Mr. Harold Eide, an adventurer from Alaska who found gold there near Nome, and was the first man to ever a sled team of timber wolves instead of dogs, spoke of his life and adventures in his beloved Alaska.He related his experience in finding his first gold nugget and extoled the great possibilities Alaska, (not yet a State) had in such fields as mining, fishing and timber."
