Dave Averill --  of The Western Mass Blitzin' Bears football team --  Chicopee

The Blitzin' Bears play in the North American Football League (NAFL) which has over 100 teams in the league.  The NAFL is an adult amateur American football league where players can develop their skills and simply play for the love of the game.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT - Jeff Smith - Assistant Treasurer - Board of Directors 2007-2008

Jeff Smith, Chief Financial Officer of Field, Eddy & Bulkley, Inc. of Springfield, has been our Treasurer since 2005.  He has been very instrumental in upgrading the club's financial records by computerizing them for the office.  Jeff serves the community in a number of ways:  He is President of Financial Executives International, a member of the Hampden Advisory Committee of the Recreation Association of Hampden, and participant in Hampden Lions Club Read Aloud and Career Days.  His interest in youth sports finds him volunteering as a Hampden Public School baseball coach and a football coach at Wilbrahm Public Schools.  Though free time is at a premium,  Jeff looks forward to playing golf and biking.  Along with his wife and three young children, Jeff takes up residence in Hampden. (Thanks to Destiny Dudley for conducting the

Spotlight interviews.)

DR. HERRON

Dr. Mary Anne Herron of the Grinspoon Foundation will have a small display about projects in Cambodia in the lobby of Chez Josef the evening of the Paul Harris Dinner.  She will also have scarves made by Cambodian crafts people available for purchase.  All proceeds will help the Cambodian projects.

NO, IT WASN'T APRIL FOOL'S DAY LAST WEEK when you received 5 copies of the

Spokesman in your e-mail box.  Two tries at e-mailing the Spokesman on Friday failed.  Two tries on Monday morning failed.  Valerie's attempt at e-mailing it also failed on Monday.  Then the mysterious masters of our web site sent a notice that they were performing maintenance and the program could not be used until after 9:30 am.  That's when the 5 issues of the October 5th Spokesman went flying through space, on their own,  to land in your e-mail box!  At least we know the program now works, and there's no excuse for not knowing what was in that issue!. ....Sorry for the inconvenience.  (Bev)
