Anne's goal is to help you dramatically improve the strategies and systems that give you a winning focus, productive people, reliable processes, and happy customers.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT - Valerie Dulude - Past President - Board of Directors 2007-2008

Valerie, our President during the 2006-2007 club year, is a Funeral Director at Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Service, Inc. in Springfield.  In addition to the time she donates to Rotary, Valerie serves on the Southwick-Tolland Regional High School Council, is a Board Member of the Springfield Cemetery, and a corporator of Glenmeadow in Longmeadow.  She earned her Associates Degree in Nursing at STCC, a BS in Bereavement Studies at Mount Idea, is a graduate of FINE Mortuary College in Norwood, MA, and is presently completing her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Hartford.   You might not know that Valerie enjoys dirt biking!  Boating, skiing, reading, and gardening also share a prominent place in her "I like to do" list.  This is one busy woman.  Valerie and her husband, Harley, live in Southwick with their two daughters. (Thanks to Destiny

Dudley for conducting the In the Spotlight interview.)

PAUL HARRIS BANQUET - Hope you were one of the many members and guests who attended the October 11, 2007 Paul Harris Banquet and 93rd Birthday Celebration of the Springfield Rotary Club.  Nothing but positive comments were heard as Valerie Dulude graciously welcomed everyone and served as emcee for the evening.   Dee Kuerzel, Andy Skroback, and Rick Lee were each recipients of the Paul Harris Award along with Christine Dulude and Justin Gay, the two oldest grandchildren of Al Gay.  The introductions of the recipients were very creative and well done.  One could not overlook the number of misty eyes as Al presented his grandaughter, Christine, with this tribute.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT

President Carol adds that the Paul Harris Banquet also served as the kick off for the club's international project.  Thanks to Dr. Mary Anne Herron of the Grinspoon Foundation who focused on the Cambodia project by bringing a collage, handouts, a video and conducting live discussions with her Cambodian assistant, Sithsaphory Nhev,   The proceeds from the sale items (scarves created by Cambodian crafts people,  raffle of a hand-made quilted wall hanging donated by President Carol, and the sale of "Rotary chocolates") totalled $257.00 and will be taken by Dr. Herron to Cambodia on October 19th.  Members may be interested to know that $1.00 in US currency has the purchasing power of $7.00 in Cambodia.

This is not the extent of the Club efforts in reference to the International Project.  We will be very active in pursuing grants and hopefully additional fund raisers.  When I became President of this club, I asked members to become involved in the International project and the alternative school project and to make it part of the fabric of this club.  Dr. Herron and I would like to thank all of you who worked so hard in making this year's Paul Harris event such a success. (Thanks to President Carol for this update on the international project.)

NEW RI WEB SITE  -  Rotary International launched its redesigned Web site on October 8.  Its fresh new look and new features make it very inviting.  The site offers more advanced search capability and a library of images available for download.  Do check it out.
