FROM THE ARCHIVES:  At the March 3, 1944 meeting of the Springfield Rotary Club held at Hotel Kimball, Captain H. W. Underwood, U.S.N. spoke on the war in the Pacific.  He spoke on the reliance of Japan on cargo and naval ships, and is optimist about America's chances of success because of it's great rate of ship construction.  He did, however, predict as most navy men thought that the job in the Pacific would not be completed until the middle of 1946.
