SPEAKERS:

March 14th - Bill Pepin - Bill started working part time in radio at age 16, joined WWLP in 1969 and subsequently was sent to Salt Lake City, Utah to construct an independent station. In 1981 he returned to Springfield as the Station Manager. In 1994 to date he has been the Vice President / General Manager of WWLP. He currently holds memberships in Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Forest Park Zoological Society, and serves on the Board of the MSPCA and is a founding member and Past Chairman of the Spirit of Springfield.

March 21st - Domenic J. Sarno, Mayor of Springfield, will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Friday, March 21st. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, a native son of the City of Springfield, has earned a reputation for his commitment to community-based programs to address quality-of-life issues, education and public safety. A former four-term City Councilor who served as City Council President and as a member of the Springfield Finance Control Board, Sarno was elected Mayor of Springfield on November 6, 2007.

MEMBERSHIP CHANGES:

New Members - Six new members were inducted into the Springfield Rotary Club at their February 29tth meeting. This was the largest group to be inducted at one time in the 93 year history of the Springfield, MA Rotary Club. Club President Carol A. Armour was pleased to induct new members Jay L. Lieb of Longmeadow, Helena Ferreira of Chicopee, Jennifer Schimmel of Windsor, Ct., Robert Russell of Longmeadow, Heather Haskell of Hadley and Paul Lambert of S. Hadley.

This was also the first time in club memory that a 3rd generation family member joined the Springfield Rotary Club. Jim Russell, Membership Chair, had been brought in by his father, Matthew Russell, 43 years ago and was proud to have his son Robert join the club on this day. The Springfield Rotary Club has inducted over 11 new members this year.
