Let’s continue to show our Rotary pride!  We have solid membership, operations, service and special events committees and structures in place within our club and are an active club where we enjoy several Service Above Self events and activities.   Our committee chairs are empowering their team and volunteers by leading our events like:

Operations Committee ensure we have a greeter each week, recognize birthdays, send out get well cards, share our message via public relations, ensure our budget and finances are on target, website maintenance, social media and bulletin.

Service Committee ensures conducting service activities, including capital and non-capital donation efforts. This committee facilitates all of our club’s civic efforts both locally and internationally with the Rotary Foundation, Polo, Service Fund, Friends of the Homeless, RYLA, Grants, and International Water project.

Membership Committee ensures onboarding is seamless for new members, look for ways to retain club members and educate current and contact prospective members.

Special Events Committee ensures the oversight of all fundraising and social engagements. This committee facilitates all networking, professional development, fundraising and annual events, which includes our Paul Harris Awards & Community Grants Celebration, Service Above Self Luncheon and extra projects like our upcoming Sidewalk Art Walk project.

Lawrence (Larry) Snyder, PhD, Professor and Program Director for both graduate and undergraduate programs at Bay Path University, will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting this Friday, February 24th.  Larry’s topic will be “Privacy, Security, and Technology -With ubiquitous technology convergence on the horizon, what does this mean for our privacy and security.

 

Professor Snyder was instrumental in developing the cybersecurity program for the State University of New York’s Herkimer County Community College, one of the first cyber-crime programs in New York State. Under his leadership, it obtained national certification from the Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). His background also includes positions in major United States banks as a manager of fraud operations and senior information systems auditor. He is a founding member of the National CyberWatch Center’s Curriculum Standards Panel, charged with producing the nation’s first curriculum model standard for cybersecurity education. Snyder is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, IEEE Computer Society, Comptia Academic Alliance, Infragard, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
