Greetings Fellow Rotarians! 
 
I hope everyone is enjoying their week!  On this past Friday, we had the opportunity to hear from Eileen McCaffery has served as executive director of Community Music School of Springfield since 2012. She shared with us how the program has grown from 60 students to over 1000 in Springfield Public Schools with a graduation rate above 90%. The Community Music School of Springfield has been a gift to the children and citizens of Springfield and the surrounding area!  It was a great experience and we learned a lot!
 
As you are aware, we have a great lineup of speakers for February this week will be having Laura Masulis TDI Fellow for Mass Development will discuss development projects in downtown Springfield will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting this Friday, February 23rd. Laura is a wealth of Knowledge and I’m certain that the economic development of Springfield is of interest to everyone in the Pioneer Valley. You don’t want to miss this very informational topic and find out what’s going on in Springfield’s Downtown.  Looking forward to seeing you there!
 
Next weeks meeting March 2nd will be a Rotary Club Assembly! You can look forward to hearing from all Committee Chairs, and Members regarding our progress as a club.
Rotary Social will be next Wednesday February 28 at Samuels located in the Basketball Hall of Fame at 5:30pm – 7:30pm! Lets invite and get some folks out to support Fellowship with one another!

THIS FRIDAY 
Laura Masulis TDI Fellow for Mass Development will discuss development projects in downtown Springfield.  
 
 MassDevelopment, is the state’s economic development and finance agency. They work with businesses, nonprofits, financial institutions, and communities to stimulate economic growth across the Commonwealth. Through these collaborations they help create jobs, increase the number of housing units, revitalize urban environments, and address factors limiting economic growth including transportation, energy, and infrastructure deficiencies
 
 
MARTIN LUTHER KING SERVICE
Martin Luther King Family Services is hosting its second annual Social Justice Awards event on April 4.   Tickets are $60 a piece.  Martin Luther King Family Services has been a part of the community since 1977.  (http://www.mlkjrfamilyservices.org/)  Their mission is to fulfill the legacy of Dr. King.   The funds raised will be used to support their food bank program that now supports 500 people per week to ensure that they have access to healthy food and their after school program where they promote literacy, citizenship and social justice.

Rotary International Convention
Save the Date!  The 2019 Rotary International Convention will take place June 1-5, 2019, in Hamburg, Germany. This is sure to be an excellent opportunity to enjoy fellowship and learn more about Rotary.
 
Our incoming District Governor, Kate Sims, will be attending a planning convention in San Diego very shortly.  Kate wishes to obtain a rough count of those who are interested in attending the 2019 Rotary International Convention to discuss with other Governors.
 
If you are potentially interested, please reply to jennifergruszka45@gmail.com. Spouses are certainly welcome. Costs are not determined at this time, but Rotarians are responsible for flights, accommodations and Convention fees.
 
Historically, 20-80 members of District 7890 have attended the International Conventions. You can learn more about past and future Conventions here.
