There will be NO Friday Rotary lunch meeting this week, as we are meeting in concert with our West Springfield Rotary colleagues on Wednesday March 11th for our "Shamrock Social, detailed in this issue."

The Rotary Clubs of Springfield and West Springfield are holding the joint spring Shamrock Social on WednesdayMarch 11th from 5:30 to 7:30 PMat the Carriage House in Storrowton Village in West Springfield.
The foundation of Rotary is fellowship and the evening will place the accent on fun and friendship with an Irish flair and will include a cash bar and a buffet dinner---all for just $15 per person.
Live music will be provided by an All-Rotary Band.
Our West Springfield Rotary colleagues report an additional 40-45 are expected to attend from their efforts, which puts us within striking distance of our collective goal of 100 attendees.
Also expected, in addition to members from the two host Clubs are 8 members from the Southwick Club, current District 7890 Governor Mike Roy and his wife, and former DG Mike Barnett and his wife and DG Nominee Don Chandler and his wife. This event replaces both the Tuesday West Springfield Club and the Friday Springfield luncheon meetings this week. The program will belight on Club business and long on food, fun and fellowship. The event is open to guests, significant others, friends and colleagues, as well.

The Cambodian Medical Clinic Foundation will hold its third wine-tasting event at the Springfield Country Club on Friday, April 17th from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The event will include two wine distributors and this year for the first, a beer tasting distributor. Hot hors d’oeuvres, other foods and desserts are also included. There will be a raffle and silent auction – all as a means of making money for the clinic. The raffle will include items from Cambodia, a money tree, a cork barrel guessing event and other items. The silent auction will include a home on Cape Cod, a condo in Florida and several weekend escapes. The cost once again, $35@ - a bargain with friends, food and drinks. Tickets may be purchased in advanced from Marie Angelides or Mary Anne Herron. Join us and plan to be a partner.
Our Club will mark its 100th Anniversary this spring by awarding three Paul Harris Fellowships to outstanding community leaders, three Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) for the June 13, 2015 RYLA at Springfield College and ten $1,000 grants to deserving Springfield charitable organizations.
The Centennial Celebration will take place on May 20, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Colony Club in downtown Springfield.
Numerous Club members have taken on key roles in ensuring the celebration's success: Ellen Freyman and Dene Harris are coordinating the arrangements with the venue. Richard Fulkerson is serving as the event's financial manager. Brian Sears will produce the event program booklet and Ed Sunter will spearhead ad sales for the book.
Maryanne Herron and Sue Lavoie are reviewing applications for grants. Dave Chase and Jim Russell are selecting and securing commitment from the Paul Harris honorees. Marie Angelides and Ellen Freyman are reviewing the RYLA selection process.
Amy Scott, Paul Lambert, Steve Jablonski and Rick Lee are working on the evening's program theme, "100 Images of Rotary" to represent the Club's mission and history in the event.
Plans call for passed hors d'ourvres, a carving station and a cash bar on the elegant Colony Club's outdoor patio (weather permitting) with an accent on fellowship and celebrating the events honorees. "We want to show the community what Rotary is doing in our community that evening, not simply tell them," Club President Rick Lee said. "We'll be investing Club funds in a number of great young people, community leaders and charitable organizations that night, living up to Rotary's motto "Service Above Self," and we're going to have fun doing it."
Admission to the event is $50 per person and will be open to the public.
