It’s hard to believe we are in the month off August and that the summer will soon be winding down. I hope you are all able to enjoy some much needed vacation time, along with all the local bounty our area has to offer of blueberries, zucchini, tomatoes and native corn. Ahhhh, summer in New England!
A thank you to Maurice Powe for introducing his 2 children,Tamira and Maurice Jr. to Rotary last week. This is Tamira’s 2ndtime to our club (last time she won our raffle!). She will be starting UMASS in a few weeks while Maurice Jr will be returning to Longmeadow HS and its football team. I know we wish them both much success with their education and look forward to seeing them again soon.

Our July birthday winner was Lucie Lewis. Lucie won a $25 gift certificate to an area restaurant. Lucie is also the winner of The International AAHGS Book Award®. The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) has selected I AM: Renewal In The Garden by Dr. Lucie Lewis. The intent of the award is to honor published works that promote the knowledge of African American history, genealogy and research, and to introduce the substantial contributions made by African Americans in American and International history. DINNER AT FRIENDS OF THE HOMELESS
Our club will be serving dinner at Friends of The Homeless on Thursday August, 2, 2018. They are located at 755 Worthington St from 4:15-530PM. Those who have participated know what a rewarding experience it is. Hope to see you there.
